One who saves a woman from destruction does not become a mahram to her

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 16853 )
Q: A fire broke out in my wife’s family’s house, where the oven exploded and burned my wife’s sister. I saved her and controlled the situation by the grace of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and as a result, her hands and face were burned. The question is: Does my sister-in-law become a mahram to me or not?

A: One who saves a woman from a deadly situation, while being a stranger to her, does not become a mahram to her; because mahram status is established only through kinship, in-law relationships, or breastfeeding, as detailed in the evidence of the Book and the Sunnah. What is said by some of the common people, that one who saves a woman from a deadly situation becomes a mahram to her, has no basis in the Shari'ah, and it is a false statement. However, you have a great reward from Allah in that, if Allah wills. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
