Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted: "From Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) in his long hadith regarding the story of Heraclius, that Heraclius said to Abu Sufyan, 'So what does he command you to do?' meaning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I said, 'He says:
to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship anything along with Him, and to renounce all that our ancestors had said. He orders us to pray, to speak the truth, to be chaste and to keep good relations with our Kith and kin
Sahih al-Bukhari 7
, agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim."
And from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
You would soon conquer a land where people are in the habit of using foul language
Sahih Muslim 2543a
, and in another narration:
You would soon conquer a land where people are in the habit of using foul language. They have a right of kinship upon you.
Sahih Muslim 2543a
and in another narration:
So when you conquer it, treat its inhabitants well. For there lies upon you the responsibility because of blood-tie
Sahih Muslim 2543b
, or he said:
A covenant and a marriage tie
, narrated by Muslim.
And from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: When this verse was revealed: ((And warn your nearest relatives)), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called upon Quraysh, and they gathered, and he addressed them generally and specifically, saying: O sons of 'Abd Shams, save yourselves from the Fire. O sons of Ka'b ibn Lu'ay, save yourselves from the Fire. O sons of Murrah ibn Ka'b, save yourselves from the Fire. O sons of 'Abd Manaf, save yourselves from the Fire. O sons of Hashim, save yourselves from the Fire. O sons of 'Abd al-Muttalib, save yourselves from the Fire. O Fatimah, save yourself from the Fire. For I have no power to give you anything from Allah, except that you have a kinship which I will maintain with its maintenance, narrated by Muslim.
His statement (peace and blessings be upon him):
With its maintenance
: It is with the opening of the second bā' and its kasrah, and al-bilāl is water, and the meaning of the hadith is: I will maintain it. He likened its severance to heat that is extinguished by water, and this is cooled by the maintenance of ties"
