The husband of a woman's daughter is among her mahram (a relative one may not marry)

The fifth question of the fatwa number ( 3111 )
Q5: Some women cover themselves from the husbands of their daughters and refuse to greet them with a handshake. Is that permissible for them?
A5: The husband of a woman's daughter is a mahram (a relative one may not marry) to her by marriage ties. It is permissible for him to see of her what is permissible for him to see of his mother, his sister, his daughter, and his other mahram (a relative one may not marry). Therefore, covering her face, the hair of her head, her arm, or the like from her daughter's husband is an exaggeration in hijab (the covering prescribed for women), and refusing to shake his hand when meeting him is also an exaggeration in being cautious. This may lead to estrangement and severance of ties. She should abandon this exaggeration, unless she senses suspicion from him or finds in him a treacherous eye, in which case she is doing well in what she has done.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
