Khul' for more than what was given

Fatwa number ( 357 )
Q: A man married a woman and paid her a mahr of seven thousand riyals. Then she was not pleased with him as a husband, so her cousin came to him and asked him to divorce her in exchange for the mahr he had paid her. He refused to do so except for an additional three thousand (3000) riyals. He asks whether this increase is permissible for him?
A: It does not appear to us that there is any harm in the husband taking the increase he requested in addition to the mahr he paid her, in exchange for his divorcing her, since it appears from the question that she is the one who desires the khul' because she is not pleased with him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
