Q 7: Is reciting al-Fatihah when a man proposes to a woman an innovation, and are the gifts he gives her on specific days, which we call: (seasons) such as the festivals, the middle of Sha'ban, Ashura, and the like, is designating these specific days an innovation?
A 7: Reciting al-Fatihah when a man proposes to a woman or contracts marriage with her is an innovation, and likewise designating specific days for giving gifts to the wife is an innovation, especially if that is in non-Islamic seasons. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
