The husband appearing on the stage among the women
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 8854 )
Q: Whatis the Islamic ruling on wedding parties, when the bride is taken to her groom in a gathering of women, and the man appears on a (stage)and sits next to his bride so that the women can see him, and naturally he also sees the non-mahram women, who are in their full adornment? Is such an act, which is called the (bride and groom’s stage), permissible? And if it is customary for women to go to participate in the hand drum and drums to announce the wedding, how should we men, who are jealous for our women, behave regarding the exposure of the married man (who is a non-mahram to them) when he climbs onto the party stage, since he must enter the stage according to tradition? What should the non-mahram women do about him at that moment?
I ask your Eminence to clarify the ruling in this matter and guide us to what is good and righteous through a written fatwa; so that everyone can read it; so that they may be aware of their religion, their morals, and their good customs.
A: The husband appearing on the stage next to his wife in front of the non-mahram women who attended the wedding party, while he sees them and they see him, and every one of them is fully adorned and in their best attire, is not permissible. Rather, it is an evil that must be refuted and eliminated by the specific guardian of the couple and the guardians of the women who attended the wedding party, so that each person takes hold of the hand of the one whom Allah has placed under his guardianship. It must also be refuted by the general authority, by the rulers, scholars, and the bodies for enjoining good and forbidding evil, each according to his status in terms of influence or guidance. This also applies to the use of drums and other forbidden things that are committed in such a party. We ask Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to guide everyone to what brings Him pleasure, to keep us away from all open and hidden indecencies, and to inspire everyone with wisdom. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
