The Ruling on Wedding Parties and the Exaggeration Therein Among Women

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A letter reached the program signed by one of the female listeners, saying: Umm Muhammad from Riyadh. Umm Muhammad has a collection of questions, one of which is: I am a woman who dislikes going to wedding parties because of the exaggeration among women in clothing and hairstyles, but everyone gets angry with me, and they want evidence for the prohibition, or the dislike. I ask for clarification. May you be rewarded, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
It is prescribed to attend the wedding, to attend the wedding party with the men, and with the women; the women with the women, and the men with the men, in order to announce the marriage. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded the announcement of the marriage. The gathering of women on the wedding night existed in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to attend it, and they are the best of women and the most excellent of women. So one should not be hesitant about that, if the celebration does not contain any evil.
As for the fact that women wear beautiful clothes, this is from the custom of people in marriage; wearing beautiful clothes and seeking out beautiful clothes is not blameworthy. Likewise, beating the hand drum and ordinary singing among women; there is nothing wrong with that. All of this is part of announcing the marriage, if they are alone and there is no free mixing of men and women. So we advise you not to be late, and not to cause disturbance to others. And if you attend and see evil, or see something that is not appropriate, advise, direct to what is good, and help in what is good. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
One who guides to something good has a reward similar to that of its doer.من دل على خير؛ فله مثل أجر فاعله
Sahih Muslim 1893a
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue, and if he has not strength enough to do it, (even) then he should (abhor it) from his heart, and that is the least of faith.من رأى منكم منكرًا؛ فليغيره بيده، فإن لم يستطع؛ فبلسانه، فإن لم يستطع؛ فبقلبه، وذلك أضعف الإيمان
Sahih Muslim 49a
And this includes men and women. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
