It is permissible to defer the mahr or part of it with the wife's consent

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 9808 )
Q2: I owe my wife 5,000 riyals from her mahr. They took gold for it; I bought it for 1,500, and she is content to defer the rest for a while, and I have a debt. Is there any sin on me for this?
A2: If the situation is as described, and she has consented to deferring the payment of her money that you owe her, then there is no sin on you. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
