Fatwa No. ( 19493 )
Q: It hasspread among the people to a very great extent, a fabricated hadith attributed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), which is the long hadith of women, or a reminder for women, and we have not found an official fatwa regarding it. What is painful to the heart is that it has become widespread in educational institutions, specifically girls' schools, and what is also painful is that it is distributed by the teachers themselves. When they are confronted with the fact that this hadith is fabricated against the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and that it is not permissible to publish it, they respond with complete confidence that it is an authentic and reliable hadith. Therefore, I ask your Eminence to issue a written fatwa to refute the lies and fabrications attributed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
A:The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed the pamphlet titled "A Reminder for Women," attributed to the Commander of the Faithful'Ali ibn Abi Taliband Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah(peace and blessings be upon him), from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and its text reads: From the Imam'Ali ibn Abi TalibHe said: I enteredand Fatimahupon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and found him weeping intensely. I said: May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah, what has made you weep? He said (peace and blessings be upon him): O Ali, on the night I was taken up to the heavens, I saw women from my Ummah in severe punishment, and I was shocked by their condition when I saw the severity of their punishment; I saw a woman hanging by her hair with the brain in her head boiling, and I saw a woman hanging by her tongue with scalding water being poured into her throat,
I saw a woman hanging by her breast. I saw a woman eating the flesh of her body, with fire burning beneath her. I saw a woman whose legs were tied to her hands, and snakes and scorpions were unleashed upon her. I saw a woman who was deaf, blind, and mute in a coffin of fire, her brain coming out of her thighs, and her body torn apart by leprosy and leprosy-like sores. I saw a woman hanging by her legs in the fire. I saw a woman cutting the flesh of her body in her front and back with fire tongs. I saw a woman burning her face and hands while eating her intestines. I saw a woman with the head of a pig and the body of a donkey, with a thousand thousand colors of punishment upon her. I saw a woman in the form of a dog, with fire entering from her rear and coming out of her mouth, and the angels striking her head and body with fire mallets. Then Fatimah said: 'My beloved and the coolness of my eyes, tell me what were their deeds and their conduct that led Allah to place this punishment upon them?' He said (peace and blessings be upon him): 'O my daughter, as for the one hanging by her hair, she did not cover her hair from men. As for the one hanging by her tongue, she used to harm her husband. As for the one hanging by her breast, she used to refuse her husband's bed. As for the one hanging by her leg, she used to go out of her house without her husband's permission. As for the one eating the flesh of her body, she used to
adorn her body for people. As for the one whose hands were tied to her legs and upon whom snakes and scorpions were unleashed, she was negligent in ablution, her clothes were dirty, she did not perform the full ritual bath from major ritual impurity or menstruation, she did not clean herself, and she was careless with prayer. As for the blind, deaf, and mute one, she bore a child from unlawful sexual intercourse and hung it around her husband's neck. As for the one who was cutting her flesh with tongs, she was a procuress. As for the one with the head of a pig and the body of a donkey, she was a talebearer and a liar. As for the one in the form of a dog, with fire entering from her rear and coming out of her mouth, she was a singer and a dirge-singer. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Woe to the woman who angers her husband, and blessed is the woman whom her husband is pleased with.' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke the truth. The Committee holds that this pamphlet is fabricated against the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and against those to whom its narration is attributed. Whoever fabricates it or promotes it deserves the warning established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in his saying:Sunan Abi Dawud 3651Sahih (Al-Albani) It is agreed upon as authentic.
It is obligatory for Muslims to refute this pamphlet, tear it up, destroy it, warn people against it, and punish those who promote it; because it is among the greatest lies. And for the sake of warning against this pamphlet, and similar false pamphlets that appear from time to time, this fatwa was drafted. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
