Q: This is a newsletter; I do not know to what extent it is suitable for publication. I obtained this newsletter from some of the brothers, read it, and found in it some mockery of the religion (in my opinion). Therefore, I sent it to you so that I might know your opinion of it. I have learned that this newsletter is distributed to people, so I ask you, may Allah preserve you, to publish the response quickly in the magazine (Islamic Research) and to respond to the owner of the office that published it. Peace be upon you.
A : After the Committee reviewed the aforementioned newsletter, attributed to the office of \ Tala’ ibn Hasan al-Iskandari for debt collection in Dammam , which contains on one side an advertisement for the establishment, and on the other side the title “Our Favorite Dish,” with the following text beneath it: (“Our Favorite Dish: Ingredients: One kilo of humility + one liter of water + a handful of broad-mindedness + pieces of good opinion of others + patience + forbearance. Method: Prepare yourself to be pure and clean from the filth of hatred and resentment, filled with faith and righteous deeds. * Place the vessel of taqwa (mindfulness of Allah) and faith before your eyes in your dealings with those around you. * Mix fear and self-monitoring, then pour the water of patience and forbearance over
the mixture. * Do not forget to place forgiveness when able, and tolerance at the end of the mixture. * Place it in the oven of self-restraint, and it would be desirable for it to be a gentle fire. * Reduce the fire of anger for the self, for a high fire leads to the burning of the value of faith. * Wait for one hour in seclusion with yourself, and hold it accountable for what it has done. * Baste it during that time with intention and repentance so that the meal is pure from impurities. Important note: You can remove the bad smell by the remembrance of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). After the hour has passed, take the food out of the oven, and you will find it, if Allah wills, heavy in the scale of good morals.”) The Committee answered: It is obligatory for the owner of the aforementioned establishment to cancel what was written on the second side under the name “Our Favorite Dish”; because of the disparagement of dhikr (remembrance of Allah) and the prescribed etiquettes, and the mockery it may lead to. This method is not the way of the righteous predecessors of this community in calling to good and guiding to it; therefore, it is obligatory for the owner of the establishment and for anyone who comes into possession of this newsletter to destroy it.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
