Inheritance of Children from Their Maternal Grandfather
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 15750 )
Q: Do children inherit from the estate of their maternal grandfather who died while their father was still alive? And if they have a right of inheritance, what is their share? It is known that they have two maternal uncles, three maternal aunts, and a wife of this grandfather.
A: If the matter is as stated, then the children do not inherit anything from their maternal grandfather; because they are among the relatives by blood (dhawu al-aram), and relatives by blood do not inherit in the presence of a sharer or an ascendant, except for the spouses.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
