Cursing One's Wife

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The eleventh question from Fatwa number ( 5953 )
Q1: A woman asks, saying in her question: Her husband has frequent quarrels with her, and he curses her more than five times, so what is the ruling? May Allah reward you with the best reward?
A11: It is not permissible for a Muslim to curse his wife or any other Muslim; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Cursing a believer is like killing himلعن المؤمن كقتله
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Abusing a Muslim is an outrage and fighting against him is unbeliefسباب المسلم فسوق، وقتاله كفر
Sahih Muslim 64a
And his wife does not become forbidden to him because of that. He must repent to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) from this great sin, and he must seek his wife's forgiveness for cursing her; because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) says:
And live with them in kindnessوَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ
And it is not what is right to insult her or curse her. It is obligatory for the woman to listen and obey her husband in what is right, and not to force him to insult her due to bad behavior. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
