Fatwa number ( 14044 )
Q: A Muslim young man wants to get married, and he has brothers who will pay for most of the wedding costs from their money. Is it permissible for him to take this amount to get married with it? Knowing that his brothers perform all the obligatory prayers at their times, except for the obligatory Fajr prayer, which they do not pray until after its time has passed. He has advised them many times and informed them of the severity of that, but they
make excuses that they are unable to get up to perform the obligation, while they do get up to perform their worldly jobs at their times. Is this amount permissible for me to use to get married? Knowing that the amount is a gift from them and not a debt?

A: You must continue to advise your brothers to perform the obligatory Fajr prayer at its time, and to take the measures that help them to do so. There is no harm in your taking the amount from them to help with the costs of the marriage, if you are in need of it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
