The Meaning of His Saying, "And the Trumpet Will Be Blown; That Is the Day of the Promise"
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then Allah (Mighty and Majestic) mentioned the general goal, saying: The one who blows the Trumpet is Israfil, one of the angels who carry the Throne. He has taken the Trumpet in his mouth and bowed his forehead, waiting for when he will be commanded. When Allah (Mighty and Majestic) commands him to blow this Trumpet, people will hear a tremendous sound that will terrify them, and then they will be struck down and die. [Az-Zumar 39:68] They will rise from their graves, looking to see what has happened. When the Trumpet is blown, they will be gathered to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) so that He may judge between them with His judgment, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said: That is the Day of the Promise. This day, my brothers, is not merely a day of threat; rather, it is a day of both promise and threat. It is a day of promise for the righteous and a threat for the disbelievers. However, He (Mighty and Majestic) said, "That is the Day of the Promise," because this Surah began with the matter of those who deny the Resurrection and lie about the messengers. Thus, the rhetorical context required mentioning that aspect, namely the aspect of threat, so He said, "That is the Day of the Promise."
