Applying Perfume During Ihram
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 9571 )
Q1: Applying perfume after entering ihram, after arriving from Cairo , I performed a blessed 'Umrah. While making du'a and rubbing myself against the Ka'bah al-Sharifah at the Multazam, I found my hand touching the perfume oil of the Ka'bah al-Sharifah. In the midst of the spiritual state and devotion to the Ka'bah al-Sharifah and making du'a, I applied this perfume to my body, hair, and clothes above the Ka'bah . After that, I left to complete the rituals, and went to Zamzam where I drank and performed wudu with a large amount of water, almost like washing my head and body, then performed sa'y and shortened my hair. What is the expiation due for this? What is the ruling on this application of the perfume of the Multazam which I touched inadvertently without intention, and then I performed wudu and it was almost removed?
A1: Your hand touching the perfume present on the Ka'bah inadvertently, and then your subsequent application of the perfume to your body, hair, and clothes, is prohibited for you. An expiation is obligatory for this, which is fasting for three days, or feeding six poor people, half a sa' for each poor person, or slaughtering a sheep, unless you were ignorant of the legal ruling or forgetful, in which case nothing is required of you.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
