Is it valid to enter the state of ihram for Hajj before its months, given that some have said it is valid?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it valid to enter the state of ihram for Hajj before its months, given that some have said it is valid? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : There is scholarly disagreement on this, though they agree that it is not prescribed to enter the state of ihram for Hajj before its months. The months of Hajj are Shawwal, Dhu al-Qi'dah, and Dhu al-Hijjah. If a person enters the state of ihram for Hajj in Ramadan, for example, some scholars say that his ihram is established and he is considered to be in the state of Hajj, but it is disliked. Others say that his ihram for Hajj before its months is not valid, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Hajj is [during] well-known months, so whoever has made Hajj obligatory upon himself therein [by entering the state of ihram], there is [to be for him] no sexual relations and no disobedience and no disputing during Hajj.
[Al-Baqarah 2:197]
Allah has made the rulings of ihram contingent upon those who designate Hajj in the months of Hajj. This indicates that the rulings of ihram do not apply to one who designates it outside the months of Hajj. If the rulings do not apply, it means the ihram is not valid.

The questioner : May Allah thank you and magnify your reward.
