Question:
Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) says: “Hajj is [in] well-known months. So whoever has dedicated himself to Hajj in them, there is no sexual intercourse, no sinning, and no quarreling during Hajj.” We wish to shed light on this noble verse, as we are preparing for this season, and also for this fifth pillar of Islam.
Answer:
Answer: Allah the Exalted said: “Hajj is [in] well-known months.” These months are Dhul-Qa’dah and ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. The months of Hajj begin from Shawwal, and the month of Shawwal is the time for entering the state of ihram for Hajj. As for performing Hajj, it takes place on the days of Hajj. However, if one enters the state of ihram for Hajj during these days, his ihram is valid, even if it is on the day of ‘Id al-Fitr. This is because the months of Hajj begin with the departure of the month of Ramadan and the entry of the month of Shawwal. Therefore, if one enters the state of ihram for Hajj during this period, his ihram is valid. If one enters the state of ihram for Hajj before these days or after them, his ihram for Hajj is not valid.
