The second question of Fatwa No. ( 14623 )
Q2: My father (may Allah have mercy on him) used to slaughter a cow every year in Ramadan and distribute it among the people of the village. In our current time, the people of that village
are not in need of that meat. Is it permissible to distribute its value in cash to the poor? And peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
A2: If your father bequeathed the slaughter of a cow and its distribution to the needy among the people of the village, and the people of the village became wealthy, then it is transferred to the nearest town to your village and distributed to its poor. And if your father did not bequeath it, but you slaughter it for him as charity, then it is permissible for you to replace the sacrificial animal with what is more beneficial for the poor, such as cash or otherwise. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
