Fatwa number ( 12546 )
Q: I haveobtained from the Ministry of Awqaf here a number of mushafs with the intention of sending them to one of the poor local mosques inEgypt, which is located in my village, and this quantity of mushafs was sent with one of the friends traveling toEgypt, but he delivered a large part of those mushafs to the intended destination, and distributed a small amount of them to some of the friendswho are committed, and whom we consider to be so in the sight of Allah - if Allah wills - and this friend told me that he gifted them those mushafs for the purpose of reading in them, not for decoration. Does this last distribution - to the friends - fall within the primary purpose of
sending those Qur'ans to Egypt or what? We ask your eminence to provide information on these questions that concern us, and may Allah make you a helper to everyone in serving Islam and Muslims, and may Allah reward you with good.

A: Your mentioned friend does not have the right to distribute them to anyone other than the mosque for which those Qur'ans were designated, or another similar mosque. From this, it is known that it is not permissible for him to distribute any of them to friends. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
