Q:I have approximately sixty cassette tapes, consisting of the Noble Qur'an, hadiths, pulpit sermons, and Islamic books. I want their reward to reach me in my grave after my death. Should I donate them to some mosques during my lifetime, or give them to some friends, or make a bequest that they be donated after my death?Which is more correct: donating them during my lifetime or after my death? Perhaps my children will benefit from them. May Allah reward you with good. This is my hope for everyone who reads this message: that they make du'a' for me in
the Sacred Precinct of Makkah if they are near it, and that they send greetings to me on the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and to Abu Bakr and to 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) (this is a trust). Peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
A: First: All these avenues are avenues of good and benefit, but you should seek out what is of the greatest benefit and what is most useful for your children as well, both in your lifetime and after your death. We ask Allah for you success and guidance. Second: Your question contained the phrase: “My hope to everyone who reads this letter is that they send greetings to me on the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and to Abu Bakr and 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them).” We clarify to you that making another person bear the burden of sending greetings to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) or to any other deceased person is not prescribed; rather, it is a religious innovation. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan an-Nasa'i 1578Sahih (Darussalam) ,
Therefore, it is obligatory to abandon this practice and to point out to those who engage in it that it is not permissible. It is a grace from Allah upon us that He made our greetings to our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reach him wherever we are, in the east or west of the earth. It is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 5:430 narrated by Imam Ahmad, al-Nasa'i, and others. He (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: Sunan Abi Dawud 1531Sahih (Al-Albani) , and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . There are many hadiths to this effect. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Indeed, Allah has angels on earth who travel about and convey to me the greetings of my Ummah
إن لله في الأرض ملائكة سياحين يبلغوني من أمتي السلامAmong the most excellent of your days is Friday; so invoke many blessings on me on that day, for your blessing will be submitted to me
خير أيامكم يوم الجمعة، فأكثروا علي من الصلاة فيه، فإن صلاتكم تبلغني حيث كنتمDo not make my grave a place of festivity, nor your houses graves. Send prayers upon me, for your prayers reach me wherever you are
لا تجعلوا قبري عيدًا، ولا بيوتكم قبورًا، وصلوا عليّ، فان صلاتكم تبلغني أين كنتم
