The Shaykh : And in His saying:
Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die.
[Az-Zumar 39:30]
there is evidence for what
Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, announced it when he came to Madinah. He had gone out to his date palms in al-Sunh, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the morning of his death was in better health and more energetic than he had been before, so he, may Allah be pleased with him, was reassured about the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) health. Then he went out to his place in al-Sunh. When the news reached him, he entered Madinah, and the people had gathered in the mosque, for the matter that had befallen them was a great matter.
Anas ibn Malik said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Madinah, and everything in it was illuminated. When he died, everything in it was darkened.
"For it lost the light that He brought with it; it lost the light, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the revelation that came with him was cut off by his death."
Then Abu Bakr came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and found him lying down, covered, and dead. He uncovered his face, kissed him, and said: "I sacrifice my father and mother for you. You were good in life and in death. By Allah, Allah will not gather two deaths upon you. As for the first death, you have already died it." Then he went out to the people who were in the mosque, and among them was 'Umar ibn al-Khattab addressing the people and denying the death of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). He was saying: "He has not died, but he has fainted, and Allah will resurrect him on a day, and Allah will resurrect him, and I will surely cut off the hands and feet of men from the opposition."
This was what he thought, may Allah be pleased with him, but Abu Bakr believed in his death with a certain heart.
Then he entered the mosque and found 'Umar saying this. He said to him: "Be calm, O man." Then he ascended the pulpit and addressed the people with his famous, great sermon, in which he said: "As for after, whoever used to worship Muhammad, then Muhammad has died."
May Allah be pleased with him.
(Glorified and Exalted is He) and with His praise, these are very great words.
Whoever used to worship Muhammad, Muhammad is dead.
Sunan Ibn Majah 1627Da’if (Darussalam) And it will not benefit him anything.
And as for whoever used to worship Allah, the Lord of Muhammad, then He (the Exalted) is Living and does not die. Then he recited: "You will die and they will die. Then on the Day of Resurrection, you will dispute before your Lord." 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "No sooner had I heard it than I was thrown down; my legs did not hold me, and I sat." He knew that the matter was true and that he (peace and blessings be upon him) had died.
