Usury has seventy-three doors

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 9636 )
Q2: It was said in one of the hadiths of the Messenger regarding the subject of
riba: that riba has seventy-three doors . What are these doors in detail so that people can avoid them and work to stay away from falling into them?

Volume 2: Hadith:
Usury has seventy-three doorsالربا ثلاث وسبعون بابا
It was narrated by Ibn Majah from Ibn Mas'ud, and it was narrated by al-Hakim with the addition:
the least one in sin is as that of a man who marries (has sexual relations with) his mother, and the very essence of usury is the (violation of the) honor of a Muslim manأيسرها مثل أن ينكح الرجل أمه، وإن أربى الربا عرض الرجل المسلم
Bulugh al-Maram 7:64
Al-Suyuti mentioned both of them in (al-Jami' al-Saghir), and he indicated the weakness of the first, and the authenticity of the narration of al-Hakim . Al-Munawi transmitted in (al-Fayd) from al-Hafiz al-Iraqi : that their chains of narration are authentic, and what is meant by riba (usury or interest) is the sin of riba. Al-Tabi said : This estimation is necessary so that it matches his statement: "that he marries," and the narration indicating this is:
Riba is seventy sinsالربا سبعون حوبًا
from Ibn Majah, and al-hawb is the sin.
