Swallowing saliva by a fasting person
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 9584 )
Q1: Does saliva break the fast in Ramadan or not? Because I have a lot of saliva, especially when I am reciting the Qur'an and in the mosques, and this embarrasses me.
A1: A fasting person swallowing his saliva does not invalidate his fast, even if it is abundant and continuous in the mosque or elsewhere. However, if it is thick phlegm like a spit, do not swallow it; rather, spit it into a handkerchief or the like if you are in the mosque. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
