The obligation to make up fasts for one who broke the fast in Ramadan for an excuse, when able

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 12591 )
Q4: As for the one who broke the fast of Ramadan while in a state of post-natal bleeding, pregnancy, or breastfeeding, and her health is good, is it better to fast or is charity sufficient for her?
A4: It is obligatory for the one who broke the fast of Ramadan because she was in a state of post-natal bleeding to make up the fasting of the days she broke for her post-natal bleeding. As for the pregnant woman, it is obligatory for her to fast during her pregnancy, unless she fears harm to herself or her fetus from fasting, in which case she is granted a dispensation to break the fast, and she makes up the fasts after she gives birth and becomes pure from post-natal bleeding. She does not have to feed people if she makes up the fasts before the next Ramadan arrives. Feeding people does not suffice for her in place of fasting; rather, fasting is necessary, and that suffices her from feeding people. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
