A man suffering from asthma

Fatwa number ( 3288 )
Q: I inform your eminence that I am a man suffering from asthma
since 1382 AH. This illness has gradually worsened until it forced me to use an asthma inhaler every half hour at times, and at other times every hour or two hours, depending on the weather and its effect, as well as various sedative pills, once, twice, or three times a day, to manage the continuous asthma sensitivity. I have obtained several medical reports, all of which indicate the severity and harm of this illness. In truth, they speak exactly of what I feel and suffer from. Therefore, I ask your eminence about the permissibility of breaking the fast in Ramadan and what follows from it, as long as I am breaking the fast and unable to fast. May Allah guide you.
A: If the situation is as you described, there is no blame on you for breaking the fast in Ramadan. The days you broke the fast remain a debt in your charge, which you must make up when you are healed and able to do so; for Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Baqarah 2:185] And if the illness continues with you and a specialist doctor determines, with the preponderance of his opinion, that you will not recover, then you must feed one poor person for every day you broke the fast, only half a sa' of wheat, rice, or the like of the staple food of the country, and you have no obligation to make up the fast; for Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Baqarah 2:286] and He said: [Al-Hajj 22:78]
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
