The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 9452 ):
Q4: Is it true that my father’s illness is evidence of Allah’s love for him; due to the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 2637a, even though my father has not been praying since before he became ill, and that illness is a reduction of his sins? Is it true that working in banks is forbidden, and if a person is in dire necessity and has no job other than this?
A4: First: We have issued a fatwa regarding the ruling on working in riba-based banks, No. (4961). Its text is: If the bank is not riba-based, then the salary or reward the employee takes for his work is lawful earnings, as he is entitled to it in exchange for permissible work. If the bank is riba-based, then the salary or reward the employee takes for his work there is forbidden;
for his cooperation with the owners of the riba-based bank in sin and transgression. And Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Ma'idah 5:2], and because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 1598, narrated by Muslim . Second: If a believer is struck by a calamity such as illness or otherwise, his sins are thereby removed; due to his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih al-Bukhari 5640, narrated by Ahmad and al-Bukhari and Muslim , and it was reported from him that he said: Sunan Ibn Majah 4031Hasan (Darussalam), narrated by al-Tirmidhi, and this applies to believers. As for the disbeliever, it is part of his immediate punishment, and one who abandons prayer is considered a disbeliever according to the most correct of the scholars’ opinions. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.
وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَلاَ تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِcursed the accepter of interest and its payer, and one who records it, and the two witnesses, and he said: They are all equal.
لعن آكل الربا وموكله وكاتبه وشاهديه وقال: هم سواءNo calamity befalls a Muslim but that Allah expiates some of his sins because of it, even though it were the prick he receives from a thorn.
ما من مصيبة تصيب المسلم إلاَّ كفر الله بها عنه حتى الشوكة يشاكهاThe greatest reward comes with the greatest trial. When Allah loves a people He tests them. Whoever accepts that wins His pleasure but whoever is discontent with that earns His wrath.
إن عظم الجزاء مع عظم البلاء، وإن الله إذا أحب قومًا ابتلاهم، فمن رضي فله الرضا، ومن سخط فله السخط
