Is it permissible to wear an iron ring, and if it is permissible, what are the hadiths regarding that?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible to wear an iron ring, and if it is permissible, what are the hadiths regarding that? May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
Wearing an iron ring, or more accurately, wearing a ring of iron, is a matter on which the scholars have differed. Some held that it is not permissible, either disliked as a lesser disapproval or disliked as a prohibition. They cited as evidence for this that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called it the adornment of the people of the Fire.
Others held that it is permissible, citing as evidence the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to the man who asked him to marry him to the woman who had dedicated herself to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:
Look (for something), even if it is only an iron ring التمس ولو خاتماً من حديد
Sunan an-Nasa'i 3359Sahih (Darussalam)
. This is evidence for the permissibility of wearing a ring, for a ring is not of any benefit unless one wears it. If it were not permissible, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not have said to him:
Look (for something), even if it is only an iron ring التمس ولو خاتماً من حديد
Sunan an-Nasa'i 3359Sahih (Darussalam)
. The original ruling is permissibility, except for that which has been established as forbidden. In this matter, I see that a person should avoid it, because the hadith cited by those who said it is disliked as a lesser disapproval or a prohibition, although some have criticized it, still gives rise to a doubt for the person. Avoiding doubtful matters is something the Shari'ah has come with, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Both lawful (Halal) and unlawful things (Haram) are evident but in between them there are doubtful things·and most people have no knowledge about them. So he, who saves himself from these doubtful things, saves his religion and his honor الحلال بين والحرام بين، وبينهما أمور مشتبهات لا يعلمهنّ كثير من الناس، فمن اتقى الشبهات فقد استبرأ لدينه وعرضه
Bulugh al-Maram 16:32
.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
