The Call of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) to Hajj

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 6147 )
Q4: It is said that Allah the Exalted commanded His Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) to
call the people to Hajj, and that Ibrahim called the people, and those who are to perform Hajj responded to him in the wombs of women and the bellies of men, and that those who did not respond will not perform Hajj, even if they possessed mountains of gold and silver. Is this true or not?

A4: Allah commanded Ibrahim (peace and blessings be upon him), after he had finished building the House, to call the people to Hajj. So the Exalted said:
And proclaim to the people the Hajjوَأَذِّنْ فِي النَّاسِ بِالْحَجِّ
[Al-Hajj 22:27]
the verse. Ibn Kathir said in his exegesis of it: “Call out to the people, inviting them to Hajj to this House which We have commanded you to build.” It is mentioned that he said: “O my Lord, how can I convey this to the people when my voice does not reach them?” He said: “Call out, and upon Us is the conveying.” So he stood on his standing place, and it is said on the Stone , and it is said on al-Safa , and it is said on Abu Qubays, and he said: “O people, your Lord has taken a House, so perform Hajj to it.” It is said that the mountains humbled themselves until the voice reached the farthest corners of the earth, and it was heard by those in the wombs and the bellies, and everything that heard it responded, whether stone, brick, or tree, and those whom Allah has decreed to perform Hajj until the Day of Resurrection: “Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik” (Here I am, O Allah, here I am). This is the substance of what was reported from Ibn Abbas and Mujahid and Ikrimah and Sa'id ibn Jubayr and more than one of the Salaf, and Allah knows best. Ibn Jarir and Ibn Abi Hatim recorded it in detail. This is the end of the words of Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him).
And Allah knows best the reality of the matter. As for the call, there is no doubt about it, because the Noble Qur'an has explicitly mentioned it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
