Settling Debts

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 3065 ):
Q: I bought meat from a butcher for six French riyals. A long time has passed since this debt was incurred. At that time, the exchange rate for the French rial was 35 Yemeni riyals, but now the exchange rate for the French rial is 135 (one hundred and thirty-five) Yemeni riyals. The owner of the meat has asked me to settle the debt based on the current price. Should I settle it based on the previous exchange rate or the current one? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
A: If the situation is as you described, you must pay your partner
French silver riyals, or their value at the time of payment, not at the time the meat was purchased.
