Not accepting a gift if it is not given willingly

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 10229 )
Q1: My wife has a daughter from another husband, and I raised her and provided her with good upbringing. A sum of money, amounting to 13,000 riyals, came into my possession for her. When I married her off, I gave her what she was owed from me, and she swore, "It is yours, my uncle." Knowing that the amount was not from her mahr, but from sheep I raised for her, is it lawful for me to keep it or not?
A1: If she is of sound mind, the amount is your right. However, if you think she said that out of modesty rather than willingly, the safest course is to refrain from accepting it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
