If a person praying alone hears the iqamah, he breaks off his prayer to pray with the congregation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 1787 )
Q2: A person enters Ramadan and sees people praying, and he assumes they are praying tarawih, but he has not yet prayed the obligatory 'Isha' prayer. He began praying alone, and during the prayer he learned that they were praying the obligatory prayer. What should he do: should he complete his prayer alone, or should he complete it with the congregation?
A2: He should break off the prayer he is in and start his prayer with the congregation; because performing the congregational prayer is obligatory upon him, unless there is an excuse, and he is not excused here; because he is able to perform it. Breaking off the obligatory prayer for a valid legal excuse is permissible, and there is no doubt that joining the congregation is a valid legal excuse.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
