The congregation disperses, each praying at his home, and they abandon the congregation

The first question of Fatwa number ( 13344 )
Q1: We have a village with about 21 houses, all close together and not far apart. There is a mosque in the middle of the village from the time of the ancestors. The farthest house among these is about 500 meters away. However, we do not pray in the mosque in congregation. We have tried with them by all means, but to no avail. Everyone excuses themselves by saying the place is far, and each of them has the ability to come to the mosque, as evidenced by the fact that each one of them owns a car. It is known that the nearest house is about 40 meters away. But may Allah guide them, each one of them built a mosque at his house and prays in it, saying: Is Paradise in the village mosque and Hellfire in our mosque? What is the legal ruling in this? And what is your word to them? May Allah reward you with the best reward.
A1: It is prescribed for the people of the village to pray the five obligatory prayers in the mosque in the middle of the village; because prayer in congregation is obligatory, and the mosques located at each of their houses are for voluntary prayer and tahajjud; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Observe some of your prayers in your houses and do not make them graves.اجعلوا من صلاتكم في بيوتكم ولا تتخذوها قبورًا
Sahih Muslim 777a
.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
