If the ma'mum says the closing salam before his imam due to forgetfulness
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of fatwa number ( 5831 )
Q1: If the ma'mum says the closing salam before his imam due to forgetfulness, is he required to perform the prostration for forgetfulness, or should he follow his imam?
A1: He is required to return to the intention of prayer and then say the closing salam after his imam, and he is not required to
perform the prostration for forgetfulness if he had joined the imam from the beginning of the prayer. However, if he was masbuq (joined late) by one rak'ah or more, he should return to the intention of prayer. When his imam says the salam, he stands up to make up what he missed, then he performs the prostration for forgetfulness for the mistake he made before or after the salam. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
