What does the ma'mum do if he stands to make up missed prayers before the imam prostrates for forgetfulness?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 19048 )
Q5: I am the imam of a mosque, and it happened that I prostrated for forgetfulness after the taslim. Some of the ma'mum stood up to make up what they had missed before my prostration. Do they also prostrate for forgetfulness after performing what they missed?
A5: If the imam forgets and prostrates for forgetfulness, it is obligatory for the ma'mum to follow him in the prostration for forgetfulness, even if the ma'mum is a masbuq. If the imam did not prostrate until
after the taslim, and the masbuq stood up to make up what he missed and did not follow the imam in the prostration for forgetfulness, his prayer is valid, but he must prostrate for forgetfulness after making up what he missed, either before the taslim or after it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
