The follower's forgetfulness in prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original

Fatwa number ( 10269 )

Q: If a man joins the congregational prayer and prays with the imam only one or two rak'ahs, for example, and then completes the prayer on his own, but he forgets to complete the prayer or doubts about his prayer after the imam, is it permissible for him to perform the prostration for forgetfulness or not?
A: If the follower forgets in making up what he missed, or doubts his prayer, he should build upon certainty, which is the lesser amount, and complete his prayer, then prostrate for forgetfulness. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
