Charity to Kin

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question from Fatwa number ( 9817 )
Q6: Regarding the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
Charity to the poor is a charity, and to a relative it is twoالصدقة على المساكين صدقة وعلى ذي الرحم ثنتان
Does the term "kin" (dhi al-rahm) to which the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) encourages us refer to all female relatives who are prohibited for marriage, or also to male relatives? And if charity to them is permissible, is it also permissible if their livelihood is comfortable or at the same level as the one giving to them? And if the kin is in a better state than us in terms of provision and ease of living, is maintaining the tie through visiting sufficient?

A6: First: The text of the hadith in Ahmad and al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasa'i and al-Hakim is:
Charity to the poor is a charity, and to a relative it is two: a charity and a tie of kinshipالصدقة على المسكين صدقة، وهي على ذي الرحم اثنتان؛ صدقة وصلة
Sunan ad-Darimi 3:59
from Salman ibn Amir al-Dabi . Second: The intended meaning of "kin" (dhi al-rahm) is poor relatives, male and female. As for the wealthy, their ties are maintained through gifts, visiting, pleasant faces, and advice to everyone. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
