If a deficiency is found in what he pays as zakah on the two types of currency

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 2713 )
Q: A man has money, and he used to give its zakah every year. He believed the amount to be four thousand riyals, and he continued to give zakah on this amount. When he counted the money, he found it to be eight thousand riyals. He does not know how many years have passed, as it may have been five years or more. He is now seeking your ruling on what he should do with the money for which he did not pay zakah during this unknown period. We hope you will provide us with a fatwa on this matter. May Allah guide you.
A: He must pay the zakah for the years he is certain of, covering the difference in zakah that exceeds the four thousand riyals. As for the period in which he is uncertain, he is not obligated to pay zakah for it. However, if he pays zakah on the years he is uncertain about as a precaution, that is good.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
