Q2: The company management makes us work overtime when work accumulates. Work hours end at 3:00 PM, and overtime is calculated with a maximum of fifty hours per month. There is a meal allowance paid out if employees stay at the company until 6:30 PM; if they leave before that time, the meal is not paid. What happens is that most employees leave around 5:00 PM or slightly later, but they sign the departure logs as if they left at 6:30 PM. As a result, they are credited with the meal allowance and also with overtime hours they did not actually work. I cannot continue to
working until the specified time; because they all leave and close the doors of the warehouses and departments, so I sign and write the time I actually left. This has a significant impact on my monthly income, and I am unable to complete the fifty hours allotted to me during the month because I cannot sustain staying up this late every day. I learned that the factory manager used to fill in these hours for them, writing them according to his estimate, and he usually wrote them for them as they are now, despite knowing that they left hours before this time. Knowing that this company is affiliated with the state, what is the Islamic ruling on this matter so that I may be reassured and so that I can address the people who argue with me on this issue?
A2: If the reality is as described regarding their signing to have an hour counted for them while they are outside the factory, then that is forbidden; because it involves lying and falsification, from which Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has prohibited. It is not permissible for you to do what they do, nor to help them in their blameworthy act. And be glad of good, relief, and a good outcome.
