The questioner : A questioner says: May the Shaykh be respected, I am a woman who came from my country to Jeddah and was in a state of ihram, but before performing the 'Umrah, what comes to women came to me, so my husband performed the 'Umrah and we returned, as he is tied to his work, and life proceeded normally for us as a couple, then we exited the state of ihram and performed the rituals of 'Umrah and Hajj after that, and that was about three years ago, and we did not know that it was obligatory for me to perform the 'Umrah until recently, so what is required of me now, knowing that when I performed the rituals of 'Umrah, I did not intend it to be for the 'Umrah that I was unable to perform? First: We ask, we say to the questioner: If you did not know that intercourse in the state of ihram is forbidden, then you owe nothing, that is one case. If you were forced into intercourse, then you owe nothing. If you knew that it was forbidden and you agreed with your husband to it, then you are sinful, and the 'Umrah in which the intercourse took place is defective, and it is obligatory for you to slaughter a sheep in Makkah and distribute it to the poor, or feed six poor people, giving each poor person half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg), or fast for three days, and it is also obligatory for you to make up the 'Umrah in place of the defective 'Umrah. Yes.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : ... she is still in her 'Umrah.
