Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6522 )
Q1: What is the ruling on a stolen sheep if it is slaughtered?
A1: First: Theft is forbidden; as Allah the Exalted said:
And do not consume one another's wealth unjustlyوَلاَ تَأْكُلُوا أَمْوَالَكُمْ بَيْنَكُمْ بِالْبَاطِلِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:188]
and as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Your blood, your properties, and your honor are sacred to one anotherإن دماءكم وأموالكم وأعراضكم عليكم حرام..
Sahih al-Bukhari 1739
This hadith is agreed upon as authentic. Second: It may be eaten if it is slaughtered according to the Shari'ah, and the thief must compensate its owner for its value, repent to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and seek His forgiveness. The thief may not benefit from it in any way; rather, he must give it in charity to the poor and needy prisoners.
