Is it permissible to refer to the deceased as "al-Murhum" (the one who has been granted mercy)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 4335 )
Q2: Is supplication for the deceased better than reciting the Qur'an? And is it said of the deceased: "al-Murhum" (the one who has been granted mercy), or is mercy sought for him? And is a saddle or the like placed on the grave?
A2: First: It is prescribed to make supplication and seek forgiveness for the Muslim deceased, based on the evidence that has come regarding this. Second: Reciting the Qur'an with the intention that its reward be for the deceased is not prescribed;
because there is no evidence for that. Third: It is not permissible to place a saddle or the like of types of lighting on the grave, due to what was narrated from him (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding his cursing those who visit graves and those who take mosques and saddles upon them. Fourth: What is prescribed is to say regarding the Muslim deceased: "May Allah have mercy on him," not "al-Murhum." And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
