How to Perform Tayammum
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of the fatwa number ( 9223 )
Q4: When a person performs tayammum, how far should the wiping extend on the hand, to the elbows or to the wrists, how many times can one pray with a single tayammum, and how many strikes are required in tayammum?
the elbows or to the armpits, how many times can one pray with a single dry ablution, and how many strikes are there in the dry ablution?
A4: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions.. After that: One wipes each palm with the other, from the fingertips to the wrist joint of the forearm; the joint adjacent to the palm is included in the wiping, not up to the elbows. One may pray with that tayammum as long as he does not find water or something occurs that invalidates the wudu. The preferred method of tayammum is to strike the ground once with both hands, then wipe with them the face and the palms; for what is established in the two Sahihs from the hadith of 'Amir (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said:
It was sufficient for you to strike the ground with your hands once, then wipe with them your face and your palms
إنما كان يكفيك أن تضرب بيديك الأرض ضربة واحدة، ثم تمسح بهما وجهك وكفيك
