Inability to obtain clean earth for tayammum

Fatwa number (13028)
Q: My mother suffered severe nosebleeds due to a blow she received one day around 2:00 PM, which continued until around 4:30 PM, when she was taken to the hospital and put on an IV drip. The drip did not end until around 5:10 PM. She wanted to pray 'Asr, but after removing the drip, she was unable to perform wudu' because she suffered very severe complications, to the point that she could not move her head or even speak. There was no earth in the hospital for tayammum, and it was forbidden to go down to bring some. One of the patients suggested that we change her blood-stained clothes, and place the prayer mat after folding it and strike it for tayammum, so we did that and she prayed 'Asr. Is her prayer valid or not? Then, in the Maghrib prayer, she was able to go to the restroom and performed wudu' for the prayer. When it came to washing her face, she wiped it three times with water because the area of her nose and around it had a medical bandage on it. She continued for about days in the remaining prayers as well, praying while
sitting, knowing that I was performing the wudu' for her because she could not move her head in any direction. Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
A: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions... After that: First: Your mother striking the mat for tayammum is valid because she was unable to obtain clean earth. Second: Her wiping over the bandage on her face is valid. Third: Your assisting your mother in wudu' is permissible. Fourth: Her prayer while sitting is valid if she is unable to stand. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
