Q7: Is it permissible to pray while sitting in an airplane, when one is able to stand, out of shyness?
A7: It is not permissible to pray while sitting in an airplane or anywhere else if one is able to stand; due to the generality of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:238] , and the hadith of 'Imran ibn Husayn recorded in the authentic collection of al-Bukhari that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Sunan Abi Dawud 952Sahih (Al-Albani) . al-Nasa'i added with a sound chain: . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَoffer prayer in standing condition; if you are unable to do so, then in sitting condition: if you are then at your side
صل قائمًا، فإن لم تستطع فقاعدًا، فإن لم تستطع فعلى جنبIf you cannot do so, then lying on your side
فإن لم تستطع فمستلقيًا
