The fourth question of the fatwa number ( 6193 )
Q 4: It is narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to the effect that: ( Wudu is not valid if dough, nail polish, or clay is found on the fingers ), but I see some women applying henna to their hands and feet, which is a paste, and they pray with it. Is this permissible, knowing that if they are prevented from doing this, they say: "This is pure"?
A 4: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions.. And after: We are not aware of any hadith with this wording. As for henna, the persistence of its color on the hand or foot does not affect the validity of wudu; because its color has no thickness, unlike dough, nail polish, and clay, which have a thickness that prevents water from reaching the skin; therefore, wudu is not valid while it remains, due to the water not reaching the skin. However, if the henna has a body on the hand or foot that prevents water from reaching the skin, it is obligatory to remove it, like dough and the like. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
