Q 2: What is the ruling on the circumcision of girls? Is it recommended or disliked?

Vol. 2: All praise is due to Allah alone, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions. As for what follows: Female circumcision is prescribed for women as a recommended practice; due to the generality of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):

The fitrah consists of five things... and circumcision is mentioned among them

الفطرة خمس... وذكر منها الختان

, and because of what was narrated by al-Khallal through his chain of narration, from Shaddad ibn Aws (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

Circumcision is a recommended practice for men, and an honor for women

الختان سنة للرجال، ومكرمة للنساء

Sunan al-Bayhaqi 16:217

. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
