The Ablution and Purification in the Bathroom

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 5602 )
Q: We ask you, may you be well, to provide us with information and a ruling on the following: First: Is it permissible to perform ablution and purify oneself in the bathroom? Please note that there is a door outside the bathroom. Second: What is the ruling on wiping over the leather socks? Is it from the top of the khuff (leather sock) or from above the regular sock? We ask you to inform us, and we offer you our sincere thanks.
A: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions... As for what follows: First: If it is easy for him to perform ablution outside the bathroom, the most complete way is to perform it outside, while taking care to say the name of Allah at the beginning. Otherwise, he should perform ablution inside the bathroom and be cautious of any ritual impurity that may be present. Second: The one performing ablution may wipe over the regular sock alone, or over the khuff (leather sock) alone; provided that the khuff covers the ankles and no skin is visible from behind it.
of the feet. If it does not cover the ankles, he may wipe over it if it is worn over a regular sock that covers the ankles, and over the part of the regular socks that appears above the area of washing. He may pray in all of them. If he removes one of them, he must remove the other if he wiped over both. However, if he wiped over the regular socks alone, there is no objection to removing the khuff and keeping the regular socks until the period for wiping is completed. This period is one day and one night for a resident, and three days and their nights for a traveler, provided that they were worn while in a state of purity, and the period begins from the wiping after the state of impurity. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
