Thinking During Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 6755 )
Q5: When I pray with the congregation in the mosque, distracting thoughts and ideas come to me, and when the imam concludes the prayer, I do not know what I did during the prayer. What is the way to get rid of these distracting thoughts and ideas?
A5: Your prayer is valid, but its reward is diminished by the extent of the distracting thoughts you experienced. You must strive to ward off these distracting thoughts from yourself as much as possible so that you may achieve khushu' (humility) in your prayer. This is done by occupying yourself with reflecting on the Qur'an you are reciting or hearing from the imam, and by keeping in mind the greatness and majesty of Allah and His watching over you, as much as possible, for He sees you even if you do not see Him. Also, increase your seeking refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
