The second question of Fatwa No. ( 17387 )
Q2: I have a daughter who is in the first year of middle school, and she is thirteen years old. Since she has mixed with her female classmates and teachers, she has learned from them customs and traditions that I do not approve of, which contradict our pure religion, such as: wearing high heels, not covering the head at home, using lipstick on the lips.. and other things that I do not know. I want to prevent her from continuing her studies; since she has learned what concerns her religion, and even if she continues her studies, she will not go beyond high school. Is it permissible for me to prevent her from continuing her studies? Knowing that she is good in her academic performance.
A2: There is no harm in a woman using adornment tools, such as cosmetics and dyes, but it is obligatory for her to cover herself with the complete hijab on her body when going out, and that she does not display any of her adornment to anyone other than her mahrams. There is no harm in uncovering her head at home in the presence of her mahrams, and likewise there is no harm in her continuing her studies, with covering, protection, and safety from fitnah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
