The sixth question of Fatwa number ( 17705 )
Q6: A wife asks about the fact that she desired to study during her husband's lifetime, but he did not agree to it. After his death, she is considering studying, knowing that he was not pleased with it during his lifetime. What is the ruling?
A6: There is no harm in a woman learning what benefits her in her religion and her worldly affairs, if it is facilitated for her, provided she maintains modesty and covering and avoids free mixing of men and women, even if
her husband prevented her from doing so during his lifetime and was not pleased with it; because he has no authority over her after his death. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
